Permanent Radar Speed Signs
Permanently installed SpeedCheck™ radar speed signs ("driver feedback signs") are ideal for use in areas where speeding is an ongoing concern that requires long-term, low maintenance traffic calming. School zones, high traffic neighborhoods, and business parks are common applications for pole mounted SpeedCheck signs. Powered by the sun, or connected to the power grid, permanently installed SpeedCheck signs effectively slow traffic, providing a low maintenance, long-term solution to speeding.
Two Models of IDC Permanent Radar Speed Signs
Information Display Company offers two pole mounted radar speed sign models—SpeekCHECK-1520F and SpeedCheck-1820F. The primary difference between the two models is the size of the speed display. The SpeedCheck-1520F is our most popular traffic sign and is recommended for areas with speed limits up to 35 MPH or 55 MPH. The SpeedCheck-1820F has an 18-inch display and is for use in areas with higher speed limits.

UltraClear™ Display Technology. Only SpeedCheck incorporates Information Display Company's exclusive UltraClear display technology. Based on many years of research, and eschewing the compromises of conventional contrast enhancement techniques such as "anti-glare" windows and colored window material, UltraClear is a multi-faceted system that minimizes glare and reflections and maximizes contrast without compromise. Ultra-clear gives each SpeedCheck radar speed sign an unprecedented contrast ratio, and delivers the best clarity and view-ability in the business, under all lighting conditions.
SafetyMask™ System. Over the years we've observed a high incidence of "rubbernecking" by drivers as they pass driver feedback signs. This concerned us enough to develop the exclusive SafetyMask system, which limits the viewing area to within a driver's normal forward field of view. By preventing this distraction, SafetyMask further enhances safety by assuring that drivers' attention stays on the road ahead, not on the sign itself.
Highly Vandal Resistant. The 3rd generation of SpeedCheck displays is our most highly vandal resistant display ever. If struck by a projectile, the shatter proof window and internal display actually absorb the shock by deflecting together up to 2 1/2 inches without damage!
Long Life DC Drive. SpeedCheck brand displays use only fully analog display drive circuitry. It is common to build this type of display using digital drive techniques for the LED display (it is simpler and less expensive), but there is a tremendous penalty paid in life expectancy. Whereas the LEDs in a speed display with digital drive circuitry will lose over 25% of their intensity in only 3 years (based on data from HP / Agilent), it will take 57 years for a SpeedCheck display to lose the same amount of its original intensity!
